Things I am *not* buying

I love gear. I buy good quality stuff when I need so I don’t have to spend time and money getting another piece.

However, sometimes I come across gear that makes me go wow! gotta have that!. I’m working very hard not to give in to temptation. So, here’s the list of things I would love to have but I am not buying. The reason? Well, I have no use for them, they are too expensive or I already have gear like this that performs great so I don’t need another one.

• SureFire G2X Tactical flashlight. Already have a good flashlight.
• Kobold SEAL Evolution watch. Already have a good watch.
• Strider GB folding tactical knife. Already have a good knife.
• Patagonia Super Pluma jacket. Already have a good rain jacket.
• SOG PowerAssist EOD - Black Oxide multi-tool. Already have a good mult-itool.
• Patagonia Drifter shoes. Don’t need another pair of shoes.
• Apple Mac Mini (the new model). Already have a Mac.
• Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watch. Already have a good watch.
• Leupold Mark 4 12-40x60mm Tactical scope. I don’t need it, I am not in the service anymore.
• Magpul PMAG M4 magazines. I don’t need it, I am not in the service anymore.
• Oakley Half Jacket sunglasses. Already have a pair of good sunglasses.
• Randolph Engineering Raptor sunglasses. Already have a pair of good sunglasses

It is very important to recognize when you have that temptation to buy stuff. Check with yourself and ask whether you need it or you just want to have it. I understand the wanting to have it pull. Gear does that to me. In the past 3 years I’ve learned a lot about self control.
